The University of Hawaii Saxophone Choir will premier several new works for this ensemble including Festive Overture (arr. Riojas), Einstein on 6th Street (Montoya) Asenal (arr. Kashihara), and Milonga del Angel (arr. Yukumoto).
This year’s concert will show cases several guest artists including Director of the UH Marching Band David Blon, Sax Forte Quartet, the Kawananakoa Middle School Saxophone Quartet, and percussionist of the UH Wind Ensemble. The Hawaii Saxophone Foundation will be hosting a silent auction prior to the concert. The HSF is a non-profit organization which is active in the community and sponsors many free events, masterclasses, scholarships and concerts including the UH Saxophone Choir. The Hawaii Saxophone Foundation is a non-profit organization created to raise the level of awareness and education of the saxophone in Hawaii. Plans to achieve this will be by commissioning new compositions, hosting clinicians for workshops and concerts, providing college scholarships and eventually providing instruments to schools in need.
